Help Restore the Kinney Pioneer Museum Caboose
For nearly 50 years, the Kinney Pioneer Museum has been home to "The Caboose," generously donated by the Milwaukee Road Railroad in February 1979. The caboose was placed on museum property through the combined efforts of the Iowa Terminal Railroad, Henkel Construction, Andrews Concrete Co., Construction Teamsters Local 828, Operating Engineers Local 254, and Structural Iron Workers Local 67.
After five decades and countless Iowa winters, rainstorms, and changing seasons, the caboose is showing its age. Deteriorating windows are limiting visitors' ability to safely enjoy and experience this important piece of railroad history.
To help preserve the caboose, a generous donor has pledged to match all contributions dollar-for-dollar up to $1,500, creating a total fundraising goal of $3,000. Funds raised will be used to replace and restore the caboose windows and begin interior restoration work.
